Disney Name Art

by Cindy deRosier (Nov 23, 2012)

Here at Scrapjazz, there is no shortage of inspiration for your Disney-related projects.  A quick search of the gallery brings up literally thousands of Disney layouts plus dozens of Disney cards and embellishments.  I found sixteen Disney-related articles in the Learning section.  The Scrapjazz store carries almost 400 items that are tagged Disney.  What could I possibly show that is unique, that offers a different way to showcase your Disney photos?  Disney Name Art!

My parents take our extended family to Disneyland each fall.  We typically spend five days in the parks.  One year, I broke off from the group and spent a few hours photographing signs at Disneyland and California Adventure.  When we got home, I used photo-editing software to create photo collages of each person's name.  I mounted these on cardstock and used my Crop-A-Dile to add gromlets, and then put each family group's names on a separate ring.  Here are the rings for my sister Kari, brother-in-law Brian, and nephew Timothy, and my parents, Dave and Kathy.

Before our next trip, I gave each family their ring of names.  They were a hit!  It was fun hearing them try to guess where in the parks I'd photographed each letter.  Some were easy -- everyone recognized that the ‘m' in Timothy's name was from the Monsters, Inc. ride.  Others were much harder.  I challenged everyone to find each of their letters during our next trip.  It was a lot of fun.

Recently, I printed new copies of our family's names and used them to make a fun wall hanging.  I started by mounting each name on black cardstock.  I cut one large and two small Mickey heads using my Wishblade, and then covered the cut-outs with Stickles to give them shine.  While the Stickles dried, I used a border punch to create a decorative background for our last name.  I hung each of the names from black embroidery floss and covered the ends with the Mickey heads.

If you're a Disney regular like me, consider making some of your own Disney name art!
