Travel Scrapbooking: Niagara Falls

by Heidi Anne Giebel (May 5, 2010)

Anyone who has witnessed the awesomeness of Niagara Falls will not dispute that it is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The mighty Falls are an indisputable natural treasure; they contain tales of legend and heroics and of course it’s also the destination for young lovers. There are so many reasons to make the journey to Niagara Falls; here are just a few ideas of how you can document your visit.

It’s your first time: For many of us, young and old, a trip to the Falls might be our first. Create a scrapbook page using that angle. Capture the awe on the face of the first-time Falls viewer and document it in the journaling.

Focus on the Falls: Take plenty of photos of Niagara Falls from lots of different angles.  It’s not hard to do considering the size of the Falls. Any local will tell you that the best view of the Niagara Falls is from the Canadian side but for variety, take shots from both sides. As you are snapping away your photos of the Falls don’t forget to take a few shots of the Maid of the Mist. The Maid of the Mist is a historical boat ride that takes its passengers right into the center of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Don’t forget your waterproof camera!

Getting to Niagara Falls: Unless you live in Western New York State, you will be traveling to get to Niagara Falls. You might be traveling by car, airplane or train. Pull out your camera and document the excitement you and your travel mates are feeling as you travel to this Seventh Wonder of the World.

Don’t forget the heritage photos: Since Niagara Falls is such a popular destination; some of us may have already seen it as a child. Niagara Falls has also been a popular place for couples to spend their honeymoon, so you may have photos of your parents or grandparents in front of those grand Falls.

Like many tourist attractions in the US, Niagara Falls does not lack for souvenirs. On just about every street corner you can find a visitor shop, duty-free store or drugstore that sells postcards, maps and other souvenirs with the Falls printed on them. These ephemera items are a great addition to your photo on your pages.

One Last Tip: The Niagara Falls Illumination Board lights up the Falls at nighttime, so don’t forget your tripod. You can check here, www.infoniagara.com, for dates and times that the Falls will be lit up. Pick up everything you need to scrapbook your Niagra Falls Trip at Scrapjazz.com!
