Last week we talked about creating Title Pages, so today I want to address what goes on the last page of an album. While it's perfectly okay to end it when it's full, sometimes you might want to make that last page special. Here are some ideas:
If your album covers a specific time period, such as a school year, an album of a child at a particular age, or a year of your family's life, try including a short interview with each family member, or the person the album is about. Asking them the same questions each year is a great way to gain their perspective on the year and reflect on their activities and accomplishments.
What was your favorite activity this year? What did you learn this year? What was the hardest part of the year? Who was your best friend this year? Who was your favorite teacher? Least favorite? What are you looking forward to for next year?
Include a favorite photo with an inspirational thought or quote.
End your family album of the year with a photo of your family from the backside, walking away from the camera or sitting in front of a sunset.
A photo of a baby's behind (n*aked or diapered!) makes a great "The End" page for a first year album.
Most regular books end with an "About the Author" page. Make the last page of your album an "about you" page. Write a few "About the Author" paragraphs to include. You may want to include why you created the album in your writing.
Write out goals for the next year, in a similar fashion of New Year's Resolutions. Or…if you made New Year's resolutions last year, how'd you do?
If you are creating a gift album, perhaps the last page should be a letter to the recipient.
