Perpetual Birthday/Anniversary Calendar

by Patter Cross (Jan 4, 2007)

Do you ever get tired of rewriting birthdays and anniversaries every year on your new calendar? I know I did. I still enjoy keeping appointments in my planner but I will admit that rewriting recurring items such as birthdays and anniversaries can become annoying. So, to solve this problem, I created a perpetual birthday and anniversary calendar. I now have a fun calendar on my desk, and I do not have to rewrite these dates each year. Here is how I created this calendar.

Supplies

  • 13 4" x 6" index cards
  • 1 set of tabs (I used s.e.i. Winnie's Walls tabs)
  • 2 sheets of patterned paper (I used s.e.i. Winnie's Walls papers)
  • 3 sheets of cardstock to match your patterned paper
  • 2 binder rings
  • stamp ink
  • monthly calendar stamps
  • various embellishments
  • assorted ribbons
  • corner rounder
  • hole punch

Instructions

  1. Start with 13 index cards (4" x 6" size).
  2. Use a corner rounder to round the corners of the right side of each card. Each card should stand vertically, as shown.
  3. Pick your patterned papers and tabs. I used the s.e.i. Winnie's Walls tabs and papers.
  4. Cut your patterned paper and cardstock to 4" x 6" or various sizes to decorate both sides of every index card. Be sure to save all scraps because they can be used to decorate the pages.
  5. Remember to decorate one card for the front of your album and one card for the back of your album.
  6. Print 2" x 2" pictures of people that have birthdays each month. I did not print pictures for those with anniversaries. First, there was not enough room my pages, and second, I did not have pictures of each couple.
  7. Create calendar pages and print. I used Microsoft Excel to create my pages.
  8. Stamp or write the month on each calendar page.
  9. Trim calendar pages to 3" x 5 ¾".
  10. Decorate pages with your papers, flowers, ribbon, sequins, Dymo labeler, etc.
  11. Put calendar pages and pictures on each card.
  12. Write birthdays and anniversaries for each month on your calendar. I also include the birth year in parentheses.
  13. Add your monthly tabs.
  14. Use a hole punch to punch two holes in each page.
  15. Use binder rings to bind your book.
  16. Tie ribbons to each binder ring.

Now you have a perpetual birthday/anniversary book to give as a gift or to keep for yourself. Enjoy!
