Hot Summer Colors
The sun is shining and the weather has turned hot. This can only mean one thing: summer! Let’s make this season one to celebrate. Break out those cameras at every possible opportunity to shoot your kids playing in the sprinklers, your family vacation and your backyard barbeques. Since scrapbooking seems to be all about color lately, what better way to show off those summer shots?
Combinations of color can make or break your everyday scrapbook page. Here are a few combinations that you might not have thought of before, but that scream “summer.”
Pink & Orange
Many people don’t think of pairing these two colors because of their close proximity on the color wheel, but these two bright tones are perfect with those summer bathing suits and busy beach pictures.
Want to tone it down a little? Try using a light or pastel pink with an orange accent. You’ll be surprised at how well these two go together.
Light Blue & Burgundy
These colors make the perfect combination for all your beach pictures. The blue perfectly complements any ocean in the picture and the darkness of the burgundy gives it a romantic feel. These colors are great for any early evening shots that you might have taken and will give your page a beautiful relaxed feel.
To give a little bolder feel to your layout, use a brighter aqua color to offset the deep burgundy tones.
Grey, Brown & Aqua
This is a combination that sounds crazy until you see it all come together. These three colors complement any photo taken around water, whether it’s kids in the backyard pool or you and your special someone on the beach.
Need another color with this combo? Try adding off-white or pearl tones with them for a different look.
Green & Blue
The quintessential summer colors, these colors are great for any occasion from the spur-of-the-moment photo shoots to the lavish Caribbean vacation. Use these colors to help your pictures pop right off your pages.
Experiment with the colors by lightening one while darkening the other. You might be shocked how much this changes your layouts.
Red, White & Blue
Don’t forget about your primaries this summer. These colors are bold and fun, just like your summer photos. Use them to accent the ketchup on your hotdog or a hat that your friend likes to wear in the sun.
What better way to show off those fun 4th of July pictures than with the colors of the American Flag.
Test your color-coordinating skills this summer by pairing a few colors you might not have tried before. A good tip to remember is that adding white as an accent color will brighten any colors while adding a brown will darken them. Have fun and be safe this summer, but whatever you do, don’t forget the camera!
