Using Sketches to Make Spring Layouts

by Amy Sotolongo (Mar 21, 2013)

Whenever inspiration runs low I turn to sketches to help me get started scrapbooking once again. One of my favorite sketch artists is Kristine Davidson, owner of Creative Scrappers. I asked her if she had any sketches she would be willing to share, and she sent two my way.

First I used this one:

I created this spring layout:

"Flutterflies"

We visited the Natural History Museum in Washington D.C. two years ago and enjoyed the butterfly exhibit. You are able to enter and have the butterflies fly around you. It is a really unique experience and one I wanted to include in my scrapbook album.

For the next layout I used this sketch:

Here is the layout I created, called, "My Spring Dream"

My husband and I are in the process of adopting and I have a drawer with items collected over time for our future little one. I created this layout to document where we are in the process and the emotions tied to it. To help balance the layout I used vellum to tone down the left side's patterned paper. I also used the vellum to journal on. I also utilized border stickers to add interest to the page.

I hope I have inspired you to pull out your spring supplies and scrap some of your favorite spring memories. I plan to add a few more to my scrapbook albums before the season is over.
