Prom Mini Album
by Patricia Folchert

Have you got some wonderful Prom photos your anxious to scrap? Take a look at this Prom-themed mini album which will capture those memories and make a thoughtful keepsake gift as well. I made this one for my seventeen-year-old niece. Here is a picture of the supplies I started with:
Step One: Select mini album to use; I used the Cosmo Cricket Blackboard album. So the first step is to cover the pages with our selected papers. The papers I chose are from the new My Mind's Eye/Meadowlark line, I selected them because I wanted a neutral black-and-white palette to work with and the designs fit the theme well. You can color coordinate with any dress color, theme colors, or even school colors if you prefer. Lay the album page onto the papers and trace as many pages as you need to complete your album. Then cut them all out and set them aside.
Step Two: Adhere the cut papers to both sides of the album pages by using Mod Podge and a sponge tool (see photo). Pay attention to what designs will be on facing pages and plan accordingly. Once you have attached the papers, it helps to sand the edges with a sanding block to finish them.
Step Three: Decide what pages/topics you want to include and make page tags for each page. I used the same papers, a Fiskars tag punch and glitter alphabet stickers to create my tags. I finished each with a snippet of ribbon attached with a stapler. It is a very simple approach to organizing your pages. Here is the list of the pages I chose:
Page Tags:
Punch your tags, add the sticker titles, staple on the ribbon, and then adhere the tags to the proper pages with glue dots. Step Four: Then select your matching photos, and using a tape runner, attach them to the proper pages. You can add color mats to frame your photos if you like; I planned to use wallet-size photos with white borders. Step Five: Decorate the front cover however you like. I added a custom paper flower made from the same papers and a gemstone brad. To create the flower I drew a template for the center flower and then used existing flowers in two bigger sizes as templates for the larger two layers. I traced them, cut them out and attached them together with glue dots. For the title I used a black glitter alphabet and a smaller silver alphabet for the year. I also added a row of silver gemstones under the title and punched some black flowers to which I added black pearl centers.
Step Six: Assemble your album together by placing jump rings through the pages and snapping them closed. Add ribbon knots to your jump rings for decorative appeal. I used lace and five other coordinating patterns in black, white and silver including gingham, polka dots, stars and solids.
Step Seven: Decorate your back cover however you like. I made a memorabilia pocket out of a small white bag. I border punched the top and added a row of rhinestones and three embellishments to dress it up. I adhered the bag to the back cover with Terrifically Tacky Strip for a strong bond. I also added a tag that states "Extras" on the pocket, using glue dots. I made a journal tag and placed it in the pocket as well, adding a ribbon pull-tab top.
Those are the dance steps you need to follow to make your own custom Prom scrapbook. So what are you waiting for?
