Treasuring Motherhood
"For a mother is the only person on earth who can divide her love among ten children and each child still have all her love." Anon Every year in May a single day is set aside to celebrate mothers around the world. It's a day to honor those moms who have or had a special place in our lives. The moms may be biological, adoptive, a friend's mom, perhaps a close Grandma, or maybe even you are the mom. The important lesson is that all moms should be celebrated this day, and really every day! And what better way to show our gratitude and love then through scrapbooking. Through our scrapbooks we care showcase many aspects of Motherhood from pregnancy to birth, to special things about being a mom, to friendships and more. Here are some wonderful examples of ways you can show your love. Celebrate Pregnancy Your pregnancy is where it all begins, and when motherhood starts. Remember this special time with layouts documenting how you felt and the experience of growing a child inside you. "Why is it that a child makes life worthwhile? Why is hope with each new birth new born? What deep remembrance, shadowed in a smile, Brings back the dream whose measured loss we mourn? Why do we think that life that is to be Has greater aptitude for being more, As if we rose not from the self-same sea To crash in turn against the self-same shore? Why do we wrap the best of us in song, The Eden that we left but never lost, And try to pass that purer self along, Not counting risk or reckoning the cost? I do not know, but know that from my womb Has come a life whose life makes my life bloom." -- William Byrd My Pregnancies by Maegan Hall Expecting Elsa by Maegan Hall Celebrate the Little Things There is a true joy in being a mom that is difficult to put into words on paper. These joys are found in the everyday things: a look, a slip of paper with a scribble on it, a small gift, a hug and even better, a kiss. All these are important celebrations and all worthy to be included in your pages. Here are some examples: "A child is the greatest gift That our lives can bestow. It brings the most exquisite joy That we will ever know. Some days deliver happiness, Far more than we can touch. We need the help of all our friends To comprehend how much. And so we thank you for the gifts, Both those you brought and are, That celebrate this rich, full life And its rising star! " -- Domenico Scarlatti "Mommy, I love you For all that you do. I'll kiss you and hug you 'Cause you love me, too. You feed me and need me To teach you to play, So smile 'cause I love you On this Mother's Day." -- Hanspeter Tschupp My Mother's Day by Julia Sandvoss Mom & Me by Dee Gallimore-Perry Celebrate Mom There is plenty to celebrate about Motherhood. We can celebrate in having a wonderful relationship with our mother, or someone special who has affected our lives or perhaps a Grandma who looks upon you more as a daughter than a granddaughter. Sharing these thoughts and memories through our scrapbooks offers a special glimpse into these amazing relationships. "When you have a mother who cares so much for you that anything you want becomes her desires When you have a mother who is so understanding that no matter what is bothering you she can make you smile When you have a mother who is so strong that no matter what obstacles she faces she is always confident in front of you When you have a mother who actively pursues her goals in life but includes you in all her goals you are very lucky indeed Having a mother like this makes it easy to grow up into a loving, strong adult Thank you for being this kind of wonderful mother." -- Susan P Schutz Best Friends by Dee Gallimore-Perry Shines by Christina Padilla Mom by Christi Snow Celebrate with Gifts and Cards I have always thought the best gift were those made by hand, although I truly have nothing against a beautiful pair of diamond earrings. But it has long been my dream to have my kids give me a special gift that they made for me such as a mini album, a handmade card, or even a paper design on a ribbon necklace. "My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her." -- George Washington Best wishes to all the moms on this Mother's Day!
