Feeling Lucky?
I'm not Irish, but I married into a partially Irish family. They still celebrate the holiday with cards and the traditional green. I take a fun view of the holiday - eating the traditional corned beef and cabbage and wishing everyone the "luck of the Irish." Whether you are Irish or not you can celebrate some of the holiday traditions yourself or give a gift to an Irish friend. Here are some projects and layout ideas for St. Patrick's Day: - Cards. Create a St. Patrick's Day card. Even if you aren't Irish, you can send a card to an Irish loved one or friend. Use your scraps of cardstock or patterned paper, stickers, punches and other embellishments for a quick and easy card.

- Gifts. Give a gift on St. Patrick's Day. You can use your scrapbook supplies to make an easy gift. For example, fill a mesh bag with chocolate gold coins and punched or cut-out cardstock shamrocks. Then, add a tag with a traditional greeting like "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" or "Cheers!" You have an instant St. Patrick's Day gift.
- Photographs. Don't forget to photograph the festivities of the day, from the wearing of green to the sudden appearance of shamrocks. If you or your child attend school, does the school have any special celebrations? Does your family have any traditions? Take a photograph to document who is wearing green. Last year my husband was out of town and I didn't know if he would remember to wear green. When he sent me a photograph of himself on St. Patrick's Day, I knew he had remembered.
- Journaling. While the day is still fresh in your mind, write down your memories. Did you have a special dinner? Did everyone wear green? What traditions do you maintain? Maybe you don't but your relatives or previous generations did. Make it easy to start your layout by writing down your thoughts while they are still fresh in your mind.
Layouts. With a wide choice of papers, stickers and other embellishments, layouts for St. Patrick's Day could take many forms. You probably want to stick to the traditional green color to create the appropriate holiday feel. The photograph of my husband wearing green became the focus on my layout, "Were You Wearing Green?" I included plenty of space for journaling.
