New Year’s Wall Décor and Centerpiece

I'm a lover of all holidays. I love creating paper crafts, cards and scrapbook layouts with holiday themes. Some holidays deserve bigger crafts, in my opinion, and the New Year's holiday is one of them. I decided to create two different projects, a wall décor item and a party centerpiece that would explode with the feeling of a New Year's Eve party.
For this wall décor craft I found an oval wooden plaque at the dollar store. I punched two holes in it with my We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile so I could add a ribbon hanger. I covered it with a yellow patterned paper to add a bright and cheerful pop of color. I cut a tag shape from chipboard and covered it with orange patterned paper to use for the year display. I will be able to change out the year and reuse it annually. A lime green trim was perfect along the edges of the tag. I used random leftover letters from my stash to create the "WELCOME" portion of the craft.
The core of this party centerpiece is a portion of a paper towel roll. I built upon that and created a piece I will love to use each year. A green dot patterned paper was the perfect choice to cover the paper towel roll. I filled it with florist foam to secure two pinwheels and a Happy New Year noise maker. I then stuffed the top with yellow package/basket filler. The number stickers will be easy to change out so I can use it for a number of occasions. Have fun crafting and Happy New Year to you, my scrappy friends! |
