New Years Resolutions
Every year I make New Year's Resolutions-and every year I "forget" to follow them. I get caught up in the day to day things and my resolutions quickly fade away. If you're like me, at the start of 2004 you'd like to find a way to stick to some of those resolutions and remember them three or four months from now. This year I tried something a little different with my resolutions by creating a self-reflection page for my scrapbook. I made a list of all of the things I'd like to do better or differently in different areas of my life. Writing them down helps make them official in my mind and makes me acknowledge my weaknesses. Somehow it always seems as though if my resolutions aren't in print, I can't be held accountable for them.
Realistically I know that I won't be able to keep all of these resolutions, but I think it's eye-opening to take a step back and look at yourself from a different viewpoint. I know that whenever I go back and read the goals I made I'll have one of two reactions--either I'll feel like I'm doing a great job, or I'll be reminded of things I need to work on. Whether it is at the end of 2004 or the year 2024, I think these self-reflection resolutions will be a valuable memory of who I am and how I feel about myself. Layout Description I created this layout on a piece of patterned paper made to look like an envelope. I felt as though the envelope brought a "work in progress" feel to the layout. Since my resolutions are private, I chose to include them in small pockets divided by categories where I felt the need to make my resolutions. Patterned Paper: Pebbles, Inc.
