Fabulous Christmas Photos
The tree is up, the presents are wrapped and the camera is loaded with film. Christmas always brings so much excitement and anticipation each year--so why the long face? You're thinking about your photos from last year, aren't you? Still waiting patiently in the envelope to be scrapbooked...
If you are like me, you find Christmas photos so challenging. I love the holiday, but my photos are such an explosion of color that it is hard to present them on a page without it looking busier than the mall on December 24th. If this happens to you, why not try a different approach to your holiday memory keeping this year? Look beyond the rainbow of colored lights to focus in on some of the other things that you love about the season.

There are a number of ideas that represent Christmas to me. One of my favorite things to do is to lie under the Christmas tree and look up at the lights. But you know what? I have never thought about taking a photograph that way. It has become a yearly tradition for me that has no documentation anywhere in my albums. Is there something that you do that is special to you? Have you added it to your scrapbook yet? How about these photograph ideas:
An old wooden sled
Baking cookies with your family
A wrapped gift that you are excited to give
The tree topper on your tree and the story behind it
Christmas Village collection
Your nativity
A lighted sidewalk with freshly fallen snow
Someone kissing under the mistletoe
A snow globe
The holiday wreath on your front door
Your pet in a Santa hat
Main street at dusk, covered in snow
Close-ups of your favorite ornaments and their meanings
Poinsettias
Your holiday music collection (CD's, sheet music, etc.)
A family gathered reading A Christmas Carol
Your fireplace with stockings hung up
A cozy quilt
Christmas Eve table setting
A tin of popcorn
Stringing berries for your tree
The church sign with a Christmas message
Old ice skates
Your tree from outside, through a window
Christmas morning sunrise
Evergreen trees
Shoveling snow
Drinking hot cocoa
The holiday decorations at your church or school
Wet gloves and boots
These are a few photo opportunities that I am going to be on the lookout for this season. Perhaps one of them will remind you of a Christmas tradition that you haven't yet photographed. Happy Holidays!
