Masks as Embellishments: Mardi Gras

Everyone loves parties. But what is more fun than a party? A party involving masks! What are the best parties with lots of lavish and beautiful masks? Mardi Gras and masquerades. Masks are just fun, and for some of us, layouts involving masks may be a regular affair. Masks are commonplace for Mardi Gras, Halloween, and All Saints' Day. When I had family move to New Orleans, one of the first places they took me was a local scrapbook store to pick up New Orleans-specific scrapbook embellishments. The sole purpose was so I would have supplies for their layouts when their photos began appearing in my mailbox. Here is a layout that showcases different ways to use masks:

Additionally, the beads could also be adorned with small paper masks hung on jump rings between the beads, replicating the popular and highly desired charmed Mardi Gras beads. Remember that Mardi Gras, in particular, is all about the details. I spent a lot of time recreating that for this layout. Mardi Gras layouts are the perfect adult-type layout in which you can incorporate lots of over-the-top frilly stuff (i.e. glitter, shine, glitz, sparkle, deep rich colors) and still have it be gender-neutral and adult.
