Step-by-Step: Memoirs Title Page

by Andrea Steed (Feb 24, 2009)

My grandmother is an amazing person with an amazing life story.  Even more amazing is that she's been willing to write it all down and record her story!  I've just recently started scrapbooking the second book of her memoirs which takes her through nursing school training during World War II in the 1940's.   The Fleuriste line from Cosmo Cricket has been a perfect choice to accent this heirloom story.  Here's how I created the title page for the album:

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Trim patterned paper to 8 ½" x 8" and adhere to the top of the cardstock, leaving a ¼" top border.
  2. Punch out the alphabet die cuts to create your title ("Alice's").  Adhere to the bottom of the patterned paper strip using the tape runner adhesive.
  3. Cut a piece of scalloped ribbon to 8 ½" long and adhere using the tape runner adhesive to just below the title letters and patterned paper.
  4. Punch out the die-cut flower design and adhere to the bottom of the page using the glue stick.
  5. Add rhinestone centers to the die-cut flowers.
  6. Add the rest of the title ("memoirs") over the top of the ribbon border using self-adhesive chipboard alphabet letters.
  7. On a small piece of the patterned paper, write the dates with a brown marker and outline them to create a small box.  Then trim the box from the patterned paper and adhere it directly to the ribbon using the tape runner adhesive.

Simple, but elegant, this title page will introduce the heirloom theme, color scheme and product line that will be used throughout the album.
