Step-by-Step: Stitches

I had the perfect  “a girl and her dog” photos ready for these new Max and Whiskers papers from BasicGrey, but then my daughter had a run-in with the refrigerator and I had to create a layout about her foot with its stitches.  These papers were even able to do the work of creating a whimsical page for this unusual occasion.

Supplies:

• Doodlebug Design - Summertime Collection - Cute Cuts - 12 x 12 Cardstock Die Cuts
• BasicGrey - Max and Whiskers Collection - Stitched Brads
• BasicGrey - Max and Whiskers Collection - Adhesive Chipboard - Shapes

Instructions:

1. The background paper is Goldie in the Max and Whiskers collection.
2. The vertical strip is Gretchen in the Max and Whiskers collection cut to 4” x 12”. It is attached 3” over from the left.
3. The photos are printed in a photo package on my Mac that includes one 5” x 7” and three 2 ½” x 3 1/2”. The 5” x 7” is attached 1” from the right and 1” down from the top.
4. Two of the 2 ½” photos are attached 3 ½” down from the top and 2 1/4” from the left and 1 ½” from the bottom.
5. I cut a strip from the Gannett paper from the design that looked like stitches to me, and attached it horizontally across the middle of the two smaller photos.  I adhered it 7” down from the top.
6. I printed the journaling on a Doodlebug tag in brown ink and attached it to the page below the Gannett strip.
7. I cut the last 2 ½” x 3 ½” photo to fit inside one of the oval Max and Whiskers chipboard frames and centered it over the journaling tag and the photos.
8. The cardstock flower diecuts from Doodlebug were attached with popdots and arranged in a flow of three on my page.
9. I altered the “Beware of Dog” chipboard from the Max and Whiskers collections to say “Beware of Refrigerator!” and placed it over the bottom flower diecut.

10.  The final addition was the paw-print-stitched brad from the Max and Whiskers collection and I mounted it in the center of the lower flower diecut.  The paw was a whimsical choice to take the place of my daughter’s foot.

As soon as my daughter’s foot heals and she’s back to running around with her dog, I will use these papers and some of the obvious pet-themed embellishments to create a themed page.
