Silver Lining Scrapbooking
Let's just face it, sometimes things don't go as planned. No matter how hard we try, some things in our lives are out of our control. As scrapbookers we are eager to record the pleasant memories, but tend to push aside, or even avoid, pages about trials. Scrapbooking is a therapeutic way to work through that cloud of adversity, and a way to leave a legacy for others to read. 2004 was a difficult year for our family. I felt I needed to record this experience, so my work began. The journaling at times was painful for me to write. Sometimes I felt foolish, and scared of what others might think as they read it. I wanted the page to have a simple color scheme and a sharp contrast, and hopefully convey my mood. I chose the international woman symbol because it is easily recognizable, she was alone, and I felt it matched my title. I love to cruise the gallery here at Scrapjazz. We have some amazing scrapbookers who share beautiful pages about their lives. One of my favorites is AshleyS. Besides being a fellow Arkansan, her pages about her faith and her son Clayton just speak to me. Her page entitled "What I know for sure" speaks about her faith in God. She also shares some of her favorite Bible passages that have strengthened her. Another long-time favorite is Maureen Spell. I knew of Maureen, or "Moser" as she was known, from an online scrapbooking group. I have always been impressed with her magnificent photos, but most of all, her journaling. This is one of her recent additions to the gallery called "Journey." It talks about many of her trials, and illustrates them by using song lyrics to convey her emotions. I'm so inspired when I see pages such as these, and know I am not alone in my trials. I have learned that every cloud does have a silver lining. Don't be afraid to look for it, glean what you can from the experience, and most all, don't be afraid to share it in your scrapbook.
