Fast Friendship Album
Abraham Lincoln said it best, “The better part of one’s life consists of his friendships.” I can’t agree more! So why not create a fun and funky mini-album to celebrate the friendships that enrich your own life? I used a circular theme for my album entitled “Friends Make the World Go Around.”
Create a Base: First, use a circle cutter to create the desired number of pages including a front and back cover. The circles in this album are 5 ¼” across and are cut from black cardstock.
Collect Supplies: Collect a combination of sticker letters, stamped letters, rub-ons, ink pads, and punched circles in various colors and patterns to use when decorating the cover and individual pages. As I was searching for coordinating products to use, I found an adorable polka-dot patterned paper to use as an accent throughout the album.
Design the Pages: Collage the interior pages using more punched circles for the background. Layer the photos and sticker words describing your friend’s personality with circular-shaped embellishments such as buttons, polka-dot ribbons, brads, and tags onto the background. I also like to ink the edges of all the pages for contrast.
Bind the Book: When you’ve completed all of your layouts, measure and set eyelets into the top of each page. Attach all pages together with book binding rings, ribbon, raffia, or other desired finishing material. Add additional ribbons to book binding rings and other metal findings for decoration.
You’re finished…fast and fun, isn’t it? Now you have an adorable album to keep for yourself, or to give that special friend. You can easily create more pages and add them to this album in the future, or place the entire mini album on a larger scrapbook layout dedicated to your important friendships.
"I get by with a little help from my friends."
- John Lennon
Alternate idea: For even sturdier pages, try covering CDs to create the pages of the album. Drill holes in the top of the CDs before decorating them so that you can later bind the pages together. You can also keep the center circle open on each page and bind the book through the center circle.
