Scrapping Your Favorite Snack Foods

by Denise Gormish (Feb 21, 2013)

Snacks are a fun part of our lives and our day. For my children it has always been a great way to unwind after coming home from school. For me, I enjoy having a snack before going to bed. When do you snack and what do you eat? These are a few of the topics you can scrap about your favorite snack foods.

Photography. For a layout about snacks, you will need a good photograph of the snack. Shoot your photograph in the daylight if possible, using natural light. Alternatively, you can set up the photo and use artificial light. A neutral background will keep the focus on the photograph. Keep the snack items the focus of the photograph and leave it as uncluttered as possible. If you can zoom in close to the snack item, it will have the greatest impact. Experiment with various camera angles. When I took a photograph of my daughter's favorite snack I tried several camera angles until I got one that worked nicely.

Take advantage of any cropping you can do either before printing the photograph or by cutting it after processing.

Journaling. There are several ways you could include journaling for your snack-related layout. You may choose to do one or more of the following ideas:

  • What is your favorite snack food?
  • Has your snack foods changed over the years?
  • When do you tend to snack?
  • Are their circumstances or times in your life when you tend to snack more or less?
  • What are your top 10 favorite snacks?
  • Does your family have similarities or differences in snacks? What are they?

Don't forget to add details about the snack, including a description of the look and taste of it. A fun detail might be a list of ingredients.

Layout Design. Make the photography prominent in your layout, especially if it is a regional food or one that many people may not find familiar. Remember to include details about the snack. It may be obvious to you but you never know what may not be available to future generations. Use a color scheme for your layout that coordinates with the snack. Look for stickers, die cuts, and rub-ons that may relate to your snack. Hearts would also be appropriate for a layout about a favorite snack.

Next time you sit down to enjoy a snack, get out the camera, photograph your snack and create a layout about it. It will be a good memory.
