National Cherry Month Cards

Did you know that February is National Cherry Month? In addition to being delicious, cherries are packed with antioxidants, are a good source of fiber, and are full of vitamins A and C. Their beautiful red color makes them a perfect addition to Valentine's Day treats. Cherries are also adorable on scrapbook pages, cards, and altered items! I made two fun cherry cards recently. For the first card, I started by cutting cherries freehand from a scrap of red cardstock. I added a thick coat of red Stickles. When they were dry, I attached green cardstock scraps to make the stems and popped them up on an embossed white background. The cherries really sparkle and shine. Of course, a card is even more special when it comes with a special treat! My son and I substituted some dried cherries for the dried cranberries in our favorite biscotti recipe and surprised his teacher with this "Have a great day!" card.
My second card started with a simple ice cream cone. (Look carefully at the scoops of ice cream. A cloud punch doubles as an adorable ice cream scoop!) The texture of Bazzill cardstock was ideal for the cone. I cut a cherry from a scrap of shimmery paper and coated it with Glossy Accents. The shiny and dimensional cherry was the perfect touch to complete the card. I paired the card with a box of chocolate-covered cherries - a fun and tasty birthday gift for a special someone.
I hope these cards inspired you to create with cherries. Happy National Cherry Month! Supplies:
