Read Across America Day

by Cindy deRosier (Mar 1, 2013)

Reading is a wonderful hobby.  It is educational, relaxing, inexpensive, productive, and thought-provoking.  It doesn't require a particular location or special equipment.  No matter what your interests, there are books to fit your taste.  Countless people consider reading to be one of their favorite hobbies.

Yet, for as popular as reading is, you don't see as many scrapbook pages about it as you might expect.  So in honor of Read Across America Day, I'd like to share the pages I've made about reading in hopes that it will inspire you to scrap this wonderful hobby.

I keep an envelope in my photo organizer labeled "I love to read."  Any time I get an especially cute picture of my son reading, I put it in the envelope. Every once in a while, I pull some of the pictures out and scrapbook them.  Here's another example.

This two-pager below spans a year.  I included pictures of family members reading to my son, as well as pictures of him enjoying books by himself.

Finally, here is a layout about the day when I met my favorite childhood author, Gordon Korman.

There are so many other possibilities for scrapping about reading.  You could scrap about your favorite book or series.  You could scrap about the place you get your books, like a beloved bookstore or the library.  You could scrap about where you like to read.  If you count reading among your hobbies, I encourage you to scrap it!  Happy Read Across America Day!
