Scrapping the Love of Board Games
by Cindy deRosier
(Nov 12, 2012)
Our family absolutely loves board games. Hardly a day goes by that we don't play at least one. Here we are with five of our favorites.
After placing my pictures, I added Scrabble-themed stickers for the title. I scanned the game sheet from Picture Picture and used it to journal the names of my son's favorite games for each letter of the alphabet. Despite the fact that board games are a daily part of our lives, I've only made a single layout about them. I think it's time that I make more layouts about our love of board games! I turned to the gallery for inspiration. As usual, I was really impressed with what I found.
Disney Trivia by DBurns: This artist incorporated two pictures of her family playing Disney Trivia onto a scanned copy of the game board. Scanned cards and themed Cricut cartridges complete the theme and make a very eye-catching layout. Wanna Play Monopoly? by ChrissyW: What better embellishment for a page about a board game than actual pieces from that game! This artist used Monopoly money as a border and Chance and Community Chest Cards (not the "good" ones!) as journaling cards. Fun and Games by Parisdame: Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders are such classics of childhood. This artist used nine photos to make this beautiful, clean, colorful and graphic layout. Games by Jojo Noons: What do Trouble, Chinese Checkers, Sorry and Monopoly have in common? They're all games this artist played on rainy days when she was a child. What a great topic to scrap! Scrabble by Sheredian: Scrabble might be my all-time favorite game. This artist incorporates so many of the game elements into her layout - the board, the tiles, and word definitions. It makes me want to drop everything and pull out the Scrabble board.
And if that isn't enough inspiration, check out all the fun games-themed supplies at the Scrapjazz store. I have so many ideas for my next board-game-inspired layout! |
