Circus

by Denise Gormish (Oct 10, 2012)

The circus is a fun way to spend a day or evening. It is also a fun event to scrapbook. There are many things about the circus to scrapbook and many ways to do it. With a myriad of general and circus-specific supplies, you can create anything from a single page layout to an entire album about the circus.

There are many things about the circus to scrapbook. Here are some ideas.

People. The circus is often about the people in it. There are a variety of characters typical to the circus including the clown and the master of ceremonies. These characters perform in their own way and can be very entertaining if they perform well. Another popular group of people are the various acrobats and entertainers. In my layout about the circus, I featured photographs of the various performers.

Animals. Include the stories and performances of the various animals you see at the circus. Some of the most popular animals include horses, elephants and lions.

Acts. The variety of acts can provide another layout idea. There are acts that involve animals, acrobats and inevitably something happens involving water! Tell the stories about the acts and what you saw that was entertaining, interesting or funny.

Food. Part of the experience of the circus can be the food you purchase and share at the circus.  Cotton candy, popcorn and pretzels are common. What food did you have?

Atmosphere. The circus has an atmosphere all its own. From the sight of the big tent to the smell of the animals and food take note of the atmosphere and create a layout about it.

When you do these pages remember to include photographs from the event and a good amount of journaling. Both of these things will help you remember the day.

There are also memorabilia that you bring home and will want to include in your scrapbook. Tickets, programs, confetti and other memorabilia will brighten up your scrapbook and add to the memories of the day. If you are worried about archival the quality of these items, take a photograph of them and then include the photographs on your page. If you scrapbook digitally you can scan the items and include them on your page.

There are many choices about supplies and ways to scrapbook about the circus.  Supplies include specially created tickers, paper, stamps, chipboard, and rub-ons. Also think of how you can take ordinary paper, punches and even your own pen to create the feel of the circus. In my layout I simulated the ropes in the circles with pencil lines.

Take time to remember your trip to the circus and create memories for years to come.
