Step-by-Step: Adore

by Trish Dykes (Sep 26, 2008)

I am a vintage girl at heart. I love antiques, old photos and all kinds of textures. Imagine my delight upon seeing this great new collection of papers called Blue Awning by K&Company. They are the perfect blend of vintage style and modern color that can be used with any era of photos.

What I love most about them is how well they coordinated with patterned papers that I have from 7gypsies and Pebbles Inc., a couple of my other favorite companies that feature vintage paper lines. From the rub-ons and acetate frames to the self-adhesive gems, you are sure to find that this collection works well in preserving your family's legacy.

Supplies:

Here is how I created my layout:

Instructions:

  1. Cut the Barnwood Walnut paper to 8.5" x 11". Then cut a 3/4" x 11" piece of the striped paper and attach it on the right side of the walnut paper.

  2. Cut the Flowers and Butterfly paper to 5 ½" x 11", reserving the butterfly portion to be cut out later. Then cut a piece of the Script paper to 3" x 3 3/4". Glue the Script piece 1 3/4" down from the upper left edge of the Barnwood Walnut background paper. Then take the Flowers and Butterfly cut paper and aligning it with the left side of the striped paper, glue it into place. (It overlaps the Script paper already attached.)

  3. Trim the photo to 5 1/4" x 4". Cut a piece of the green Paisley paper to 1" x 4" and attach it to the right side of the photo. Line the photo up with the left edge of the Flowers and Butterfly paper, matching the top left corner of the photo to the bottom right corner of the Script paper and adhere.

  4. Freehand cut the butterfly from the leftover Flowers and Butterfly paper using the Cutter Bee scissors. Glue the butterfly in place in the upper left corner across the Script and Flowers and Butterfly patterned papers.

  5. Use a paper piercer to poke a hole through all layers on the right side of the photo and attach the photo anchor with a brad.

  6. Put the self-adhesive pearl gems down the left side of the photo. I used the backing sheet of the gems to help me space them evenly.

  7. Cut the word ‘Adore' from the rub-on sheet. Using the plastic stick included with the package, transfer the word onto the layout across the body of the green butterfly.

  8. Use a Micron Pen to include a caption, title or date.
