Product Review: K & Company, Girl Scout Collection

As a scrapbooker and Girl Scout leader, I keep an eye open for good products for Girl Scouts. When K & Company released its Girl Scout Collection, it provided a wonderful assortment of supplies for both Girl Scouts and leaders. The papers and various embellishments provide lots of options for creating scrapbook pages and other projects.

Patterned Papers. With a large collection of papers, both in brown and green color themes, K & Company's collection provides a wide range of choices. While the papers are all 12" x 12", they can be cut down nicely for smaller-sized formats. Some of the papers include Girl Scout-themed words to accent the Girl Scout theme and match other embellishments. In my layout, "I Love Brownie Girl Scouts," I used the Brownie Girl Scouts Cream Cascade Floral Flat Paper. The cream color and flowers work perfectly with a variety of color schemes. The Girl Scout phrases around the edges of the paper lent a fun and colorful aspect to the page.

Patterned papers can be cut up and used in a variety of ways. I cut up the large Girl Scouts Green Swirl Floral Flat and used it as a pocket. In addition, I embellished the pocket with items from the Memory Activity Kit.

Rub-Ons and Stickers.

Stickers come in four styles: adhesive chipboard, embossed stickers, epoxy stickers and Grand Adhesions. The stickers feature general Girl Scout phrases but there are also sheets specifically designed for Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts. The rub-on collection provides a stylish way to add phrases and small flower accents to a spot on a page. In my layout "Pond Ceremony" I added flowers and the phrase "Investiture" from the Girl Scout Words rub-on transfers.

Kits. Two kits, Mini Activity Kit and Memory Activity Kit, contain supplies to make small Girl Scout projects. Each kit comes with plenty of paper and embellishments for making your project. While the kits make great mini-book projects, they can also be used as embellishments on scrapbook pages. In my layout "I am Making a Difference" I used flowers and a phrase from the Memory Kit.

Mix It up. The embellishments and papers are so versatile and coordinated there is no problem using embellishments from several sticker, paper, kits or rub-on collections in one layout. In "Bridging" I used Girl Scout Rub-Ons, Memory Kit flowers and Girl Scout Embossed Stickers all on the same layout.

Albums. To store all your scrapbook pages, K & Company also sells quality post-bound albums. Two styles are available: brown with "Brownie Girl Scouts" and green with "Girl Scouts." More page protectors can be added with regular K & Company refills.
