Baby Flash Cards Gift Album

by Tammy Moore (Jan 23, 2006)

"A new baby is like the beginning of all things - wonder, hope, and a dream of possibilities." - Eda J. Le Shan

I love hearing those magic words, "We're having a baby!" That means I get to pull out my scrapbooking supplies and make a special gift for the parents-to-be.

Here I've made a fun (and educational) set of flashcards for my baby cousin. Bright colors and friendly animals engage the child, while lamination makes the cards teething friendly. Best of all, this is a meaningful toy that is truly unique.

Supplies needed:

  • 3M Photo Laminating Sheets, 4" x 6"
  • 1 large plastic ring - *IMPORTANT* You must use a large, plastic ring - do not use anything small that could pose a choking hazard. Ribbon and cording are also hazards. Metal rings could pinch tiny fingers. Safety first!
  • Patterned papers
  • Stickers - The laminating sheets work best with thin sheets, so limit your project to flat embellishments.
  • Corner rounder punch
  • Hole punch

Directions:

  1. Cut cardstock backgrounds to 4" x 6".

  2. Decorate as desired. Ideas to consider:

    A-Z
    Animals
    Colors
    Family Names and Pictures
    Patterns
    Nursery Rhymes

  3. Using corner rounding punch, round the corners of each flashcard.

  4. Place two flashcards back to back and adhere together.

  5. Following the laminating sheets' instructions, laminate the flashcards.

  6. Hole punch the corner of each card and clip together.
