Canvas Mixed Media Art

Mixed media can be one of many arts and crafts including collage, altered objects, books, handmade greeting cards, artist trading cards, tags, or art journaling books. We can use many different products such as acrylic paints, paste, gelatos, inks, watercolors, crayons, markers, pastels, gesso, glues, metals, and fibers, to name a few. For some time now I've been contemplating incorporating mixed media into one of my projects. The techniques and different products can be quite overwhelming but I decided to give it a try. I was quite happy with the results. Mixed media has become a big trend; you'll find many scrapbookers incorporating art into their scrapbook layouts, journals and canvas. You can begin by simply drawing in your layouts, journals or canvas. There are many different art products that you can purchase. The great thing about mixed media art is there is honestly no way you can make a mistake. Supplies needed:
Instructions: 1. Apply gesso onto the canvas. (Gesso is like a primer.) 2. Add one coat of acrylic paint. 3. Apply one coat of Tim Holtz Distressed Ink. 4. Adhere distressed strips of patterned paper. 5. Stamp lady bug, flower and chevron stamps using StazOn ink. 6. Cut flowers using the Sizzix die-cuts. 7. Apply Mod Podge to the flowers. 8. Adhere the flowers to the canvas. 9. Add rub ons. 10. Apply gesso onto the tips of the flowers for texture. 11. Once the gesso has dried, apply acrylic paint to the tips of the flowers. 12. Add embellishments and acrylic paint to the canvas. 13. Finally give the entire canvas a coat of Mod Podge.
It's so nice to create your own masterpiece! |
