Opposites Attract
We all know those people in our lives that fit perfectly together but are so different. It makes you wonder how they ever got together. For me, the best example of this is my Nana and Papa. Papa is quiet and gentle while Nana is loud and energetic. The two fit together perfectly like a puzzle piece. This phenomenon is a great subject to scrapbook, if you haven’t already! Think deeper about opposites and you might just come up with some really interesting topics! Here are a few to get the ball rolling:
- Think about your children and do a layout about how different they all are.
- Do your kids celebrate opposite day at school? Take the opportunity to document this kooky tradition and make a fun layout too.
- How about your past homes or apartments? Show how different they are and how much they’ve evolved. I bet you’ll find your current situation and your first home are complete opposites.
- Document the opposing character traits that you inherited from your parents. Maybe you got your blue eyes from your mom and your dark skin from your dad.

- Show how you and your friend aren’t even on the same radar at times, but that you continue to be close.
- Compare the year you were born to the current year and document how opposite things are now, for example, the cost of a soda or the style of clothes you wear.
- Tell your story of true love through opposites. This is your chance to get down on paper everything from how you met to the way you work through your problems in different ways.
- Do a “he said/she said” page. Write the same story twice through her perspective and his perspective. You’ll be amazed how opposite these stories will be!
- Not big on journaling? Find some cool quotes about opposites and put them with your picture. A great place to find them would be Dr. Seuss books.
- Make a page on how different you are now as opposed to 10 years ago. Document how you’ve changed and how your life is different than you had imagined.
- Do a silly opposite page about you. Are your feet different sizes (about 80% of us feel your pain)? Does one side of your hair grow faster than the other? These things will add some lighthearted laughter into your scrapbooks.
The cool thing about this topic is that it’s wide open and with a little imagination, you’ll have yourself a one-of-a-kind page that you’ll always remember! Don’t forget, opposites don’t always have to relate to people. Expand your mind and think outside the box!
