Zodiac Scrapbooking

by Allyson Bright Meyer (Dec 1, 2006)

These days in scrapbooking, creating pages about yourself is no longer considered silly or selfish. It's encouraged, and it's fun! But after you create those first few pages, it can be difficult to think of new and unique ways to capture your personality traits and quirks on a scrapbook page. Enter the world of the zodiac.

Astrology has been around for centuries. Some people believe strongly in it, while others dismiss it completely. While I'll freely admit that I don't believe that a horoscope can predict my future, I have noticed that many of the personality traits associated with my zodiac sign are definitely ones that I possess. Creating a page about these traits was the perfect way to depict my personality on a scrapbook page, without having to take the same old approach to an "all about me" page.

Scrapbooking about your zodiac traits is easier than you might think. To get started, all you need is to discover your sign (if you don't know it already), and find out a few key facts about your sign. Surfing the internet is a great way to do this. I've found that CafeAstrology.com is an excellent resource. This site can provide you with as much or as little information as you want - down to the signs associated with each planet during the moment of your birth. You can then read about the traits associated with your sign(s), select the information you want to use, and include the information on a page.

I chose to simply cut and paste a few of the details about my signs into a word processing program. Then after a few quick edits, I was ready to print my journaling and assemble my page. The entire process took about an hour, and I now have a new and unique scrapbook page for my album.

Consider creating a scrapbook page highlighting your zodiac sign for your own "All About Me" projects, or try one of these fun ideas:

  • Create a layout comparing and contrasting the signs of each member of your family.
  • Research the "love match" for your sign, and see if it matches with your current spouse or significant other. Create a layout showing the results of your search.
  • Make a layout highlighting the parts of your zodiac personality profile that are true, and those that don't fit you at all.
  • Have an infant in the family? Create a zodiac layout for your child. In the future, it will be fun to compare the personality profile with your child's actual traits.

Above all, remember to have fun when you're researching the zodiac and creating your layouts. Even if you don't believe in astrology, creating a page celebrating "your sign" can be a fun and worthwhile activity, and allow you to create a page all about you with a fun twist.
