All About Me: Joys
The quote, "Joy is the feeling of grinning inside," provides a visual picture of the inner feeling of joy. It is a feeling inside that each of us experiences in our own way. As scrapbookers, it is an experience we can create as art on our scrapbook pages. Through words, pictures, colors and embellishments, scrapbookers can record and even create their inner joy. To describe the feeling of joy consider the following topics: - A place may provide joy. "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." - hnJoy Keats . A place, due to its beautiful or other endearing qualities, may be a source of joy for you. Every year our family visits a certain spot at Yosemite National Park. The beauty and the traditions have created a joy for me.
- A spiritual life often brings joy. "Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls." - Mother Teresa of Calcutta. What is it about your spiritual life that creates joy in your heart? Quotes from the Bible bring joy to me so I created a mini-book of Biblical quotes.
- A struggle may provide joy in the process. "Joy lies in the fight, in the attempt, in the suffering involved, not in the victory itself." - Mahatma Gandhi. Look back at a struggle in your life. What in the process felt joyful?
- Surprises often bring joy. "There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward." - Kahlil Gibran. Have you ever given something that made the receiver very happy? Didn't you, the giver, feel just as happy? That giving is a kind of joy that we experience. It could be a physical gift or a less tangible but equally significant gift.
- An observation may bring joy. "One of the sanest, surest, and most generous joys of life comes from being happy over the good fortune of others." - Robert A. Heinlein. Observe things around you. What are you thankful for in your life and in the lives of others? That thankfulness creates joy inside us. Document those joys in your scrapbook pages.
- An activity may bring joy. "Nothing I've ever done has given me more joys and rewards than being a father to my children." - Bill Cosby. Consider whether an activity brings joy or not. If so, what is it about that activity that gives you joy? Record it.
- A person may bring you joy. "When you wish someone joy, you wish them peace, love, prosperity, happiness... all the good things."- Maya Angelou. Consider the people in your life who bring you joy, who wish you joy and to whom you bring joy. Journal about the effects of that joy on you. In my layout about my husband I considered the joys he experiences and how those sjoy bring me joy as well.
- A thought may bring joy. What thoughts, quotes or attitudes create joy in your life? Create scrapbook pages about those things. Collect quotes. One quote I love is, "Joy comes from using your potential," by William Schultz. I have saved this quote, knowing it will make a perfect layout about using a talent (my potential) and the joy it creates when I use that talent.
There are several quote sites on the internet with pages devoted to joy. Here are a few to consider: When composing your layout consider the following: - Use colors that reflect the joy recorded on the page.
- Match photographs appropriately. A single photo may be appropriate in one layout, but a collage of photography might record the sentiment better in another layout.
- Layouts about joy in your life can be as simple or as complicated as you desire. Use your own style or experiment.
- If the journaling is especially important to the layout, let it take center stage.
- A simple layout could even turn into a book of your personal joy or a book of joy quotes.
Regardless of style, the end result will be a wonderful recording of your thoughts and feelings.
