Lori Ann's Pockets On A Roll

by Andrea Steed (Aug 31, 2002)

Have you ever needed a completely clear pocket? You wanted to hold something down, but didn’t want to glue it, or maybe you wanted to make a shaker box full of little beads. Page protectors are generally used for things like this, but they’re very thin and can be torn and wrinkled easily. Lori Ann’s Pockets On A Roll clear film is thick, crystal clear and can be used in the same way. It’s much stronger and can be sewn on, glued on, put on with eyelets, brads, buttons, and many other creative “tacking” techniques.

Title printed using an ink jet printer, and embossed with embossing powder and heat embosser. If you think printing on vellum is a great way to get a translucent look for your titles and journaling, you’ll love Lori Ann’s Pockets On A Roll. Their clear film is crystal clear and looks great overlapping photos, papers, or anything that’s difficult to print on. The film can be printed on using a laser printer or by embossing the ink from an ink jet printer.

In addition to the clear film, Lori Ann’s Pockets On a Roll also makes a roll of black film, rolls of black and white embellishment strips, and film from actual movies! With a little bit of creativity, these products can dress up your page, and create an awesome look!

Clear 10' roll, black 10' roll, black and white 10' embellishments, 12 film strip.

The roll of black film can be used for black embellishments such as the lenses for sunglasses, a shiny accent, or as pockets. You can also heat emboss on it! The embellishment strips are great for turning your photos into a “filmstrip” look. And the movie strips are wonderful for pages about a family movie night, going to the theater, or showcasing your Hollywood kiddos!

A film strip look was created using the black embellishment strips.

Some other tips for using these products:
Create memorabilia pockets or shaker boxes.

  • Use stamps and emboss designs. Used with the clear film, this would make a wonderful overlay for a photo or journaling box.

  • Create shaker boxes in all different kinds of shapes!

  • Use Slick Writers to journal and title on the film.

  • Run the film through a copy machine. Attach the film to a piece of regular paper and then photocopy the design onto the film.

  • Enclose memorabilia in an acid-free pocket to protect the photos on your page.

All of the materials by Lori Ann’s Pockets On a Roll are acid free and photo safe…so there is no need to worry when placing the film over a photo.

I had a great time learning to use these products and was just amazed at the versatility. While it’s slightly intimidating at first, once you get started you’ll realize what wonderful products these are for scrapbooking!
