Alphabet Medley
Take
a peek in my scrapbook room and you will see a blue three-ring binder
overflowing with my alphabet sticker collection. I have hundreds
of them and am becoming more addicted as companies like Creative
Imaginations, Doodlebug and KI Memories introduce new ones each
year. Does this sound like you?
Personally, I like the instant gratification of peel
and stick. The process seems so much quicker than fighting with
my printer to get a title just right. With all the styles and colors
of stickers available, their versatility is unmatched by any other
product. Here are some fresh ideas to get your stickers out of their
hiding place and onto your layouts.
Mix and Match. If you don't have all the letters
that you need from a single sheet, blend several different styles
or colors together to spell out your title.
Create Dimension. Change the letter heights by
adhering a few of the letters from a word on pop-dots or buttons.
You could also put a clear page pebble over the top of a letter
sticker.
Emphasize Important Words. Use several sizes
of stickers in various styles to place emphasis on words showing
expression, action or special importance to the layout. (see layout
example)
Make
Shadow Letters. Lightly adhere an alphabet sticker to your page,
then paint, ink or chalk over the letter. When you remove the sticker,
you'll have a clean outline of the letter left behind in the color
of the paper.
Substitute Letters. Depending on the style of
font, you may be able to use an extra "u" sticker as an
"n" or a "1" as an "l". An "h"
upside down might be the "y" you were looking for. A "w"
can be flipped to make an "m", a "q" makes a
great "b" and a "p" can be substituted for a
"d".
