Irresistible Resist Stamping
Resist stamping is a simple technique which allows an image to show through when inks are applied over the stamped image. To achieve this look you will need the following supplies: - stamp
- cardstock or glossy paper
- resist or VersaMark Ink
- embossing powder
- inkpads or watercolors
Step One: Stamp image onto paper, using VersaMark or resist ink. Step Two: Sprinkle embossing powder over image and tap off excess; heat the image until the powder completely melts. Step Three: Use a colored ink pad or inks and a brayer to apply color over the stamped image. Step Four: Wipe off excess ink. Once you have the simple technique mastered, use your imagination for a variety of looks. Try some of these: - Use multiple ink colors over the same image.
- Cut apart an embossed image before inking, use a brayer to add color, and then place the parts back together.
- Use the resist technique to create a background of white images.
- Instead of using a stamped image, draw your own design with a white crayon or wax candle, then use a brayer to add color. Alternatively, use the crayon around a black embossed image.
Example one - To achieve this look, stamp on glossy paper with resist ink, allow to dry and roll chalk and dye inks over the image using a brayer. Arrange on layout. Example two - To create this image, stamp on glossy paper with black StazOn and allow to dry completely. Color with a white crayon any image areas that you wish to remain white.
