5 Projects, 1 Stamp Set: Calendar Stamp Set

by Jennifer Sizemore (Jul 8, 2007)

I have always had a head for dates, even in history class when everyone else complained of not needing to know them. The Battle of Hastings was on October 14, 1066. Columbus landed in America on October 12, 1942. Astronauts walked on the moon for the first time on July 21, 1969. I can remember birthdays without a calendar (although actually mailing the card is another matter entirely).

When I saw the calendar stamp set from Autumn Leaves, I knew it was perfect for me. I could put dates on all of my layouts, a simple date in the corner or a larger block as an embellishment. But how could I use the stamps for more than just dating layouts? Here are a few projects to get your creative juices flowing:

Graduation Card

  • patterned paper - Scenic Route
  • ribbon

Stamp image on cardstock and circle the graduation date. Add patterned paper and ribbon, then cut flowers from paper and adhere. Add a chipboard sentiment.

52 Weeks Album

This little album will hold a photo for each week of the year. Decorate the cover with rub-ons, ribbon, flowers, buttons and brad. Stamp a repetitive design of the days of the week on cardstock in blue ink. Insert that page into the first sleeve of the album.

Tic Tac Toe

The little tin is perfect for a travel game of tic tac toe. Decorate tin with paper and ribbon. Stamp tag and attach to the handle. For the gameboard, punch one-inch squares of patterned paper and adhere in a block pattern onto cardstock. Draw lines between blocks and fold one column backwards to store in the box. Stamp X's and Os onto cardstock then punch into one-inch squares. Adhere to square chipboard shapes. You will need five of each letter for a complete set.

V-day Layout

Stamp an x and an o in red onto white cardstock. Place a Post-it over the "XO," covering just the image. Stamp lines onto the cardstock. Remove the Post-it and journal. Stamp the date and adhere as a tab at the top of journaling block. Stamp vertical lines onto the edges of the background. Adhere photos, journaling box, hearts and letter stickers. Add buttons and thread.

2nd Grade Layout

  • chipboard - Heidi Swapp
  • title font - QK Blossom
  • patterned paper - Karen Foster
  • stars - Provo Craft and Making Memories
  • journaling font - Butterbrotpapier
  • ink - Vivid!
  • Glimmer Mist - Tattered Angels
  • pen - EK Success

Doodle and ink the edges of the background cardstock. Trim background patterned paper and brown patterned paper. Ink a foam pad with brown ink and then spritz a little red glimmer mist onto the pad. Use this foam pad to ink the edges of the papers. Layer and adhere all papers and photos. Cut a title from brown cardstock, embellish with pen and red ink. Adhere the title. Cut journaling into strips and embellish with pen and brown ink. Stamp months onto brown cardstock with red ink and adhere to the border. Add stars, staples and brads. Using a Zig Marker, ink the section of the larger stamp that contains the two years. Stamp onto white cardstock, trim and adhere.
