Sensational Shakers Review - House of Scraps
I’ve never made a real shaker box for one of my scrapbook pages. I did try what I call an almost-shaker box once…but wasn’t that excited about it. I never really saw the reason to make one. They didn’t make sense to me, and I hadn’t seen many examples of ones that I liked. However, after I read this book, and saw some of the great examples of shaker boxes, I think I’ve changed my mind! Sensational Shakers gives fantastic ideas for how to make different and interesting looking shaker boxes, and many times shaker boxes that serve a purpose, whether through eye-appeal and to carry the theme of the page, or by preserving special memorabilia in an artistic way. Jennifer Johnson, Jennifer Wargo and Antuanette Wheeler have put together a great how to and idea book for making all different kinds of shakers, with suggestions for different adhesives, shaker materials, and see-through covers, as well as tons of examples that are just adorable. (Many of the patterns for the examples shown in are included in the back of the book.) Their clever designs make shakers make sense! They bring a whole new dimension to your scrapbook pages and accents and make your books even more fun to look at. The book is 32 pages long, and has lots of close-up color graphics as well as full product lists to help you recreate their examples. If you’re a tentative shaker box maker or a die hard shaker, you’ll really enjoy the ideas and information in this book. I will definitely be giving shaker boxes another try!
