Pocket Pages
Pocket pages are a great way to include loose items on your layouts--items like greeting cards and brochures that you want to be able to take out and read over and over again. They're also a wonderful way to hide information that is important to you and that you want to remember, but doesn't need to be shared with everyone who looks at your album, such as receipts or more personal photos and notes.
Pockets can be created using a variety of products, and they can look different on every pocket page you do. Pockets can be full page pockets, small pockets behind a journaling block or photograph, an actual envelope, or even a vertical side border pocket. You can use vellum, patterned paper, cardstock, mesh, fabric, and many other materials to create interesting and decorative pockets. Decorative trims and embellishments make pockets have even more eye-appeal!
When you create a pocket, be sure to securely fasten the sides and bottom of the pocket so that your items do not fall through. Since the items can be heavy at times, securing the sides and bottom is important. To secure them, you can use various adhesives, such as liquid glue, a glue stick, double-sided mounting tape, brads, eyelets, or you can even stitch the pocket to your page!
Use pockets on your pages to:
- hold greeting cards, birthday cards, or other occasion cards
- hold other loose memorabilia such as jewelry or hair trimmings
- hold brochures, programs and pamphlets from places you've been
- include a full magazine with current events
- hold a mini photo book
- hold photos that are more graphic or personal that you don't want to display
- hold letters or notes
- store important receipts
- showcase report cards
- store tickets
