With a Flourish
Want to make a bold and beautiful statement on a scrapbook page? Look no further than the flourish. This beautiful, often feminine, addition to a scrapbook page adds class and boldness in an instant. To create a flourish, use one of several scrapbook tools: - Pen. Freehand a flourish on your page, trace a template or use a sketch. However you chose to add your flourish, a pen is an outstanding tool. Use a pen with a thick enough point, at least .05. For variety, use different pen colors.
- Stamps. Rubber stamp and scrapbook manufacturers are selling beautiful stamp sets that include flourishes. Use partial or entire portions of the stamp. Mix the flourishes to create unique designs. For a clear image, apply firmly without rocking the stamp. In my layout, "Back to School," I used an Autumn Leaves set to create a flourish in the corner.
- Rub-ons. Consider rub-ons that contain flourish symbols. These are quick and easy to use. In my layout, "Discover," I added a BasicGrey rub-on flourish after the title.
- Computers. Create your own flourish with a computer program such as Adobe Photoshop or purchase a computer-generated flourish. Use them to decorate photographs before printing them. If you scrap digitally, you can use digital flourishes on your layout design.
Looking for a beautiful accent? Add a little pizzazz to your layout with a bit of a flourish.
