Fabulous Fibers
There are so many great accents and embellishments available to today's scrapbooker but none are more versatile than fibers. Fibers come in a wide variety of colors, sizes and textures. They are extremely affordable and easy to use. Many different brands and collections can be found right at your local craft store.
My favorite way to use fibers is to jazz up a photo mat. You can combine several coordinating colors together. You can even hang a charm from them or tuck in a couple of die cuts like I did with the palm trees in the Parrot Jungle layout.
Several ways to use fibers on your layouts include:
- as a string for a balloon or kite die cut
- as a scarf for a paper pieced snowman
- thread punched images through the fiber to create a bracelet
- a clothesline for hanging mittens with wooden clothespins
- to create a spider web
- tie through the hole of a tag (see layout)
- map out vacation route with fiber threaded through eyelets
Fibers can be adhered to the page several ways:
- using a thin layer of Judi Kins Diamond Glaze
- simply tying them into a knot or bow (see layout)
- wrapping them around the cardstock and affixing it to the back wit adhesive with a few well placed mini glue dots
So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and add some fibers to your next layout. They may be just the accent you've been looking for!
