Scrapbook Fabric from FBTY
Your favorite fiber store, FibersbytheYard.com, is now providing a fabric division of their products and services, called ScrapbookFabric.com. With the increasing popularity of including fabric textures on scrapbook pages, this new service is right in line with scrapbooking trends for 2005. Consistent with the Fibers by the Yard service and prices, buying scrapbook fabrics is now easy and affordable!
Fabric by the Yard
Fabric by the Yard is a great way to create fabric strip borders, and have plenty left to create tag-topper ribbons or small embellishment squares. Fabric by the Yard is sold in yard-long strips, which are 2 ½ to 3 wide, depending on the pattern. All Fabric by the Yard is pre-cut into one yard lengths, so if you order more then one yard of the same fabric, you will get two separate yards. Each yard is only $0.50.
Fabric Mattes
Use a pre-cut fabric square to mat a photograph or create a background for journaling blocks. You can also use the fabric mattes just as you would use a square of patterned paper by layering it with paper, photos, and embellishments. Fabric Mattes measure approximately 6 ½ x 6 ½, depending on the pattern. Fabric Mattes are also $0.50.
Fabric Panels
Fabric Panels are slightly larger pieces of fabric because of the specific pattern they feature. The panels are great for book covers, altered items or larger projects. The price and size for each panel depends on the specific pattern.
Fabric Tags
Pre-cut fabric tags can be a great added texture to your page. Sew them on a card or a layout, glue them to cardstock, and add rub-ons, stamps, stickers or fibers to enhance their look. The fabric tags are designed to coordinate with the FibersbytheYard.com Monochromatic Fiber Color Packs. All of the tags are 100% cotton and measure 2 ½ x 4 ½ in size. There are six coordinating tags per package--three print patterns and three solid colors. Fabric tags are $3.99 per set.
Fabric Grab Bags
For a real treat, get yourself a bag of FLOPS (Fabric Left Over Pieces) for only $1.50. These baggies include leftover sizes, colors and prints of fabric. Each bag includes 1 oz. of fabric for you to play with. Colors and prints are not guaranteed. Grab Bags are available on a limited basis, when supplies are available.
Textile Stiffener
You can now purchase a textile stiffener, an accessory to fabric, ribbon, twill and fiber, from ScrapbookFabric.com. A textile stiffener allows you to shape your fabric, ribbon, twill or fiber so they stay exactly as you place them. Place the item on a non-porous surface (such as wax paper). Using a sponge or paint brush, liberally soak the product, shape as you wish and let it dry for at least two hours. It will then be stiff enough to place on your artwork and will not move or lose its shape. Bend, twist and curl the ribbon, twill or fiber, or punch letters and shapes from the stiffened fabric to make great-looking embellishments for your scrapbook pages. Textile stiffener is $1.59 per 2 oz. bottle.
Whether you tear, cut, fray, tie, sew, glue, stamp, ink, or fold the fabric, ScrapbookFabric.com can help get your supply of fabrics started. Since you can purchase in small quantities, its the perfect place to find fun fabrics to use in your scrapbooks.
