A Touch of Denim
I think we all have that beloved favorite pair of jeans, the ones that fit you just right, and are broken in to perfection. I wanted to add that same feeling to a few projects I've been working on.
Denim is great because it's so neutral. It can be masculine or feminine and colorwise it goes with just about everything. You can add real denim to your projects like I did on an embellished letter ‘A', or pick up a denim patterned paper such as the one I used on my greeting cards.
Here's a thrifty tip for you: if you want to add real cloth denim to your project, pick up old jeans at the thrift store or garage sales. I didn't have any jeans sitting around, but I was able to get two pairs of pants and a long skirt for $1.00 each at my local thrift store. That's far less expensive than buying the material off the bolt at a fabric store. Plus, this way the denim is already faded and worn in. I have pockets, rivets, zippers, and buttons to use as well.
A is for Anna This letter ‘A' is a gift for a special little girl who wants a cowgirl-themed room. I covered the letter in acrylic paint and patterned papers. Then I crafted a cute flower from scraps of blue jeans purchased at the thrift store.

Supplies: Cherished Friends Canvas This is a fun little project for my daughter's room. I removed a pocket from a pair of children's jeans to use as an accent. She can put notes in there about each friend. This was their first dance, so she'll want to remember all the details.

Supplies: - canvas - Windsor & Newton
- patterned paper - My Mind's Eye
- title piece - My Mind's Eye
- acrylic paint - Deco Art (yellow) Adirondack (denim)
- silk flowers - Heidi Swapp
- photo corner punch - EK Success
- denim pocket
- buttons
Monogrammed Cards This is a cute little set of cards I made for a friend. The denim patterned paper works well, and doesn't add too much weight or bulk. For a finishing touch I tied it all together with a strip I tore off an old denim skirt.

Supplies: I had such a fun time doing these projects with denim as my inspiration product. I hope you'll give this a try for yourself. The next time you have an old pair of jeans, don't toss them out, but instead recycle them into creative scrapbooking embellishments!
