Old Supplies, New Designs: Buttons
With so many new scrapbooking supplies on the market, it's easy to overlook the great products we already have in our stash. One thing I have accumulated is buttons. Because they are available in a wide variety of sizes and colors, buttons are very versatile. Here are five fun ways to make use of this basic item. - Create shapes on your layouts like Heidi Deck did. Notice how the circle really draws attention to the photo.
Radiating Happiness by Heidi_scraps A single button or a small grouping of buttons can serve as the center of a flower as seen in these layouts by Shelley Burkett. Sweet by Shelley Burkett Dream Big by Shelley Burkett - Create a border using rows of buttons like Kayla Richards did in these two layouts.
Personality by Kayla Richards That Darn Cat by Kayla Richards - Add interest to your title as Patti Hozack did by using a button to dot your "j"s or "i"s. You could even substitute a button for the letter "o". Notice how Christina Padilla used a row of buttons to direct your attention to the rest of her title.
Always Jolly by Patti H Funny Face by Christina Padilla - Buttons and ribbon are a natural combination. Here is a layout I created that combines the two.
First Dance by Tara Daigle I have found the best way to adhere buttons is by using glue dots. Liquid glue designed for use with mixed media also works well, or you can use a needle and stitch your button directly onto your layout. So, what are you waiting for? Dig into your stash and use those buttons.
