Make Your Own Chipboard Alphabets

by Scraptivity (Jun 14, 2005)

It seems everywhere you turn these days you find a new product using chipboard. There are chipboard letters, flowers, words and albums - to name a few! All of these products offer a great way to add dimension and interest to your paper project. So why not try a hand at making your own? All you need to get started is some chipboard and a few other materials you may already have in your scrapbooking stash.

  1. Cut a piece of chipboard or backing board large enough to fit your stamp. You can purchase backing board sheets or Bazzill chipboard shapes online at www.scraptivity.com.

  2. Sand the edges of the chipboard and rub with a little bit brown ink (such as Pinecone Versacolor) to give it a worn look. Try using the ink from the April 2005 Scraptivity kit to create different colored letters.

  3. Use black ink to stamp a letter on each colored chipboard shape. Scraptivity 2” Roman letters are used in the example.

  4. Once the ink has dried, cover with VersaMark, sprinkle with UTEE and melt with a heat tool. Add a second layer of UTEE for a smoother finish.

Use the same process to create all kinds of fun chipboard embellishments with your stamps and scrap supplies.
