Slide Mounts in Scrapbooks
I was first introduced to using slide mounts in my scrapbooks a few years ago and I was instantly hooked. There are hundreds of creative ways to incorporate them into your scrapbook layouts!
Wallpapering. When slide mounts were first introduced I only found them in black or white. While those colors are versatile, sometimes it isn't the look I am wanting. I found an easy way to change the look to match my projects. I call it "wallpapering." Simply trace out the shape of the slide holder onto scrapbook paper. Cut out the inside with a craft knife or a small pair of scissors. Then cut around the traced line for the outer edge. Adhere the scrapbook paper onto the slide holder. Now you have a slide holder that matches the rest of the color scheme.
Framing. Slide mounts make perfect frames. You can use index prints, or shrink or crop your photos down so they fit inside the window. Try grouping them together on a page and accent with ribbon. You don't always have to put pictures inside the slides. You can add just about anything such as die cut letters, buttons or charms.
Mini-Books. Some manufacturers have produced oversized slide mounts. These are the perfect size to make a mini book. To make this book I traced the shape of the slide holders onto chip board to make the pages, which I covered with cardstock. I punched holes on the sides and tied it together with ribbon.
With so many colors and sizes available, slide holders can be a great accent to any scrapbook page. Experiment and have fun!
