Magic Scraps
Magic Scraps Maybe it’s because I’m just a “girl” or maybe I have a secret desire for glamour! Whatever the reason, I’m a sucker for sparkle! Because of this glittering obsession, Magic Scraps products make my eyes open wide with interest and make my fingers itch to start using them! Their products are yummy to many scrapbookers, but everyone always has the same question…How do I use them? So here’s a quick overview of different products available at Magic Scraps and some quick ideas on how to use them. ***image8:center*** Adhesives Since the adhesives are a must for many of these products, I’ll start with the sticky stuff.
Scrappy Glue: Scrappy Glue is my favorite glue for bulky embellishments. It’s a strong, liquid glue that dries clear and quickly! The small tip makes it easy to apply glue to even the tiniest embellishments.
Scrappy Tape: Scrappy Tape comes in rolls of three different sizes, ¼”, ½” and 1”. It also is available in an 8” x 10” sheet. The double-sided super sticky tape is wonderful for glitzing up your page with glitter, Shaved Ice and Bitty Beads! Here some great tips for some advanced Scrappy Tape uses! Tools Magic Scraps tools help you get done what you want to get done, without all the hassle! Sometimes the powders, glitters, and teeny tiny beads are hard to grab onto. Magic Scraps has some tools that help curb that frustration, as well as some other nifty tools that do some pretty cool things!
Eyelet Setter: You gotta have one of these to set your eyelets! This style of eyelet setter has a cone-shaped tip to fit inside the back of the eyelet.
Anywhere Hole Punch: Another necessity for eyelets. Being able to punch a tiny hole anywhere on your page is a must…especially for adhering page elements to your background with eyelets or for making holes to thread fiber through your page. Punch Pick: This tool is perfect for getting the paper out of your anywhere hole punch or your other punches. Texture Brush: Create that wonderful weathered look with the brass bristle brush. Whether you're after the Shabby Chic look or working on your heritage album, this tool is ideal! Glitter Glue Brush: This larger brush is excellent for brushing away glitter from your glitter tray and brushing excess glitter out of the way of your design. You can also use it to draw with glue to make a unique design with your glitter! Magic Tweeze: These reverse tweezers are perfect for picking up detail items. They provide an extra hand when you need one. Craft Mat: A mat is essential when hammering eyelets, and this mini mat is perfect for the job. (5" x 7"). It’s size makes it easily portable for crops and easy storage. Bead and Glitter Tray: This tray is perfect for keeping your glittering mess-free! It's also perfect for sorting your beads and eyelets. With built in funnels on two sides, your crafting will stay under control, and not all over your desk and floor! Glitter Grabber: The tip of these tweezers creates a pocket perfect for picking up beads and eyelets and is ideal for sprinkling glitter. Needle Threader: Use this needle threader for sewing without a needle. While you can always use it to thread a needle, it's also great for pulling your fibers through a page. Needle Hole Punch: Make a perfect little hole in your page to prepare for a needle or use it in conjunction with the needle threader for needle-less sewing! Eyelet Hammer: The Magic Scraps hammer is the perfect size for your scrapbook bag…only 10 inches long and lightweight. Magic Wand Engraver: Possibly the most unique tool that Magic Scraps carries is the engraver. Be the envy of your crop with your cordless engraving tool which works on metal, glass, and plastics. Try it on Picture Pebbles, Buttons, Sea glass, metal tags and more! It comes with 2 AA batteries. Tips for using the Magic Wand. Beads The Magic Scraps collection of beads are of the highest quality imported Czechoslovakian glass beads. They include large, small and seed beads all in one mix (approximately 350 beads)! The coordinated color selections and various shapes of beads are fabulous! Also look for the coordinated “bead towers” that include more of the beads you love in a handy organizer. Beads can be threaded on wire or thread to decorate a photo mat or use in a border. Bitty Beads Use Scrappy Tape or Scrappy Glue to attach these beads to die-cuts or other embellishments to give a great 3D look! They come in clear a variety of colors. Magic Scraps has some great tips on how to use them here. Buttons Various sized buttons in themed packs makes finding buttons that go together, but aren’t necessarily exactly the same, quick and easy. Buttons make great embellishments on borders and photo corners. Coastal Netting Coastal netting is definitely one of my favorites. With hardly any work at all, your page is instantly “elegant” with this sparkly netting. It comes in various colors and looks fantastic. Adhere it with buttons, paper fasteners, or tie it to your page! Eyelets Eyelets can be ordered in color themed packs, or in individual color packs (when you’ve used all of your favorite color and NEED to buy more!). The color themed packs give you a fantastic assortment of colors that are sure to fit your needs. Use eyelets to fasten papers together, anytime you are using a small circle in a design, and as a great way to connect embellishments! Fasteners The colors and shapes of these easy paper fasteners are fantastic! Small, large, circles, hearts, stars, squares, triangles, and flowers are some of the shapes you’ll find in colors such as brass, blue, yellow, red, pink, white, orange, brown, gold, yellow and green. These can be used in all sorts of ways to decorate your pages in lettering, borders, and embellishments. Fibers We all love fibers! Magic Scraps has a fantastic assortment of beautiful colors and styles of fibers to use in your scrapbooks. Using Magic Scraps fibers. Glitter Magic Scraps glitter is extra-fine unlike the glitter you used in grade school. It can add the perfect touch to a preprinted die cut, a title or paper piecing. Use Scrappy Tape or Scrappy Glue to adhere it firmly to your page. Don’t forget your craft tray to minimize the mess! Mosaic Tiles These small tiles measure 1 cm by 1 cm. Each bag comes with approximately 25 tiles and is packaged with coordinating colors. They’re lightweight and fantastic to use on your pages as embellishments. Pearls A string of pearls in many colors makes a page look great! Especially beautiful on heritage pages, these pearls are an easy elegant border, and can also be used to frame a photo or journaling box. Picture Pebbles These are really fun! Picture Pebbles are small pebbles that are translucent to reveal a magnified image underneath the stone. Large clear pebbles are also available as well as opaque black and white pebbles. Using picture pebbles. Ribbon Magic Scraps ribbon is available in a variety of designs and colors. Use them as borders, bows and to frame a special photo. Sea Glass Sea Glass packages include a variety of pieces ranging from ¼" to 1" in size (up to 25 per bag in varying sizes). Add that special touch to your sea glass using the Magic Wand engraver! Sea Shells Beach pages are made complete with sand, shells and starfish from Magic Scraps. Their tiny to fit perfectly on your page, and make fantastic filler for shaker boxes! Shaved Ice This is another one of my favorite sparkly products. Shaved ice is a shimmering opalescent flake. Originally only offered in clear, it is now available in eleven colors. It is a non-abrasive material that is acid free and archival. Magic Scraps also recently introduced “tiny ice”, similar to its original counterpart, but composed of much finer flakes. It’s great to use as ice on a paper piecing, waves at the beach, and as textured, sparkly borders around photos. See tips on how to use Shaved Ice. Tags These metal tags are really fun! They come in both large and small rectangles and circles. They can be attached to your page with fibers or eyelets and look great when engraved with the Magic Wand. Also try using Scrappy tape or Scrappy Glue to add some sparkle to them! Tinsel Tinsel is thin, metallic strips in bright and shiny colors. It makes a great background for a photo or title, and sticks to your page in an instant with Scrappy Tape! More tips for using tinsel.
