Cards with an Edge
Do you want to spice up your cards a bit? How about giving them an edge! There are many ways to give your cards a fun and different look. Let's look at some of the different ways you can do this. Decorative scissors I am sure you all have decorative scissors stashed away somewhere. Break them out. Use them to cut just one side of your card and give them a fun look. Danielle Flanders used her scallop-edged scissors to create this amazing card: Notebook edge Use a punch or your Bind-it-All to give a torn-notebook-paper look to the edge of your cards. Here is a card I created using my Bind-it-All and Card Positioning Systems Sketch No. 27: Scallop edge Tina Albertson used two types of scallops for the edge of her card. The two different scallop sizes really give her card a unique and fun look not to mention the use of torn cardboard. What a fun idea! Torn edge For an easy, "no tools required" edge, how about tearing one side of your card. Amy Tara Koeppel tore the edge of her patterned paper and then added some lace to the edge. Such a beautiful look for this Easter card: Patterned paper with an edge Some manufacturers make patterned paper with a decorative edge. Look how Danielle Calhoun folded this patterned paper to create this gorgeous card: Use embellishments Let your embellishments hang over the edge of your card to give it a fun look. Juliana Michaels attached this gorgeous trim with brads to the edge of her card: I also love how Raechelle Bellus allowed her ribbon and her flourish to hang off the edge of her card to give it a fun and yummy look: These are just a few examples of edges you can give your cards. You can also use an edge distressing tool to create another fun look. Or how about giving them a fun shape by using your circle cutter? There are many ways to create those "edgy cards."
