Step-By-Step: Index Prints

by Kristi Mangan (Jul 28, 2006)

Incorporating your index prints into your layouts is a fun way to add details, create an embellishment, or replace a focal photo in your layouts. I'll show you step by step how I created my layout, "I heart my life," using index prints.

  1. I began by pulling out all of my index prints to see what I had. Then I cut out any photos that caught my eye.

  2. After I had all of my index prints cut out, I created a heart out of cardstock. I cut out my heart and then covered one side with double-sided tape.

  3. I taped my index prints to the heart, starting at the bottom, working up. Once all of the photos were adhered, I trimmed the edges so my heart would have a smooth edge.

  5. I cut different strips of ribbon on an angle and layered them on the paper, under where the heart would go (in the bottom left corner - about 2/3 of the way up the page).

  6. I adhered the heart over the ribbon, so the edges of the ribbon peek out of the heart, and then I added letter stickers and used a white marker to add a dot border around the edge of the layout.

The layout ended up looking like this:
