FairyTale Creations
Jennifer O’Byrne at FairyTale Creations has introduced a great technique for our scrapbook pages by offering lazer-cut chalk templates. Referred to as “The Chalk Lady”, she’s an expert on the medium and teaches the technique of creating detailed and amazing backgrounds, borders, titles and embellishments using templates and chalks. They've been featured on both DIY and PBS demonstrating the chalk template techniques. If you’re looking for a new way to dress up your pages, these chalk templates are fantastic. They give your pages a new look and can be used in so many ways. There are now 71 different chalk templates available in many different styles, themes and designs. The different templates are divided into categories: - ShapeDazzlers - These include larger shapes, great for chalking or dry embossing!

- NumberDazzles – Number templates and number shadow templates in different styles.
- Dazzling Doodles - These offer the widest variety of templates, including themes, borders, and the basic templates allowing you to create a multitude of designs from simple shapes.

I love using my chalks, and so I was very excited about learning a new way to use them in my albums. Usually, when I use chalks, I like the soft, undefined lines that they make and the variety of colors that blending the chalks allows. When using chalks with these templates, I was excited about the crisp outline that you can get for your images, while still being able to blend colors and have the soft look of chalk that you want to achieve. To me, this is one of the most appealing features of this product. I used the Heritage Borders #3022 template for this layout, and love the crisp, detailed lines that I was able to get, while still being able to blend and combine chalk colors.
These templates aren’t just for chalk though! Another great way to use them is for dry embossing, ink embossing, and with your gel pens. With so many designs to choose from, you are able to make all sorts of beautiful and unique pages. For detailed instructions on how to use your chalks with these templates from Jennifer O’Byrne, the “Chalk Lady” herself, click here. You can also get some fantastic instructions by ordering their CD-ROM video and idea books, which teach tons of techniques and unique page ideas in an easy-to-understand step by step fashion. In addition to their templates, FairyTale Creations now also offers alphabet stickers, poem stickers, phrase stickers, and family stickers. The poem stickers are often just the sentiment you need for special pages. The heartfelt words give you the opportunity to express your feelings just as you’d like them to be recorded. The Family stickers are a five part sticker, including subtitles, a poem and individual words. Each section is already cut--just peel and stick them to your page.
With a little bit of creativity and a lot of fun, the possibilities for these templates and stickers are endless. The designs are versatile designs that can be used in almost anyone’s scrapbooks. FairyTale Creations has done a fabulous job of bringing a new trend and technique to the scrapbooking world. Check them out at www.scrapbookmagic.net.
