Bazzill Basics Card Sets

by Tiffany Roberts (Jul 31, 2009)

I have a new favorite product I would like to share with you.  Bazzill, my favorite cardstock manufacturer, came out with A2-sized card sets.  Ooh la la, I'm in heaven!  Delicious colors, in that famous Bazzill texture - with matching envelopes even! Each box contains 45 card and envelope combos - talk about a value!

Not only did I create the cards you'll see in this article, but I also created the cutest little mini album using the cards as a base.  Don't worry if you have extra envelopes; I also have a fun idea for making a mini gift bag from those extra fun-colored envelopes.

Cards

Here are two very simple, fun cards that I created. The love-themed card is a collage style using several new products I was dying to play with: those adorable calendar pages and the spiral journaling page from the Making Memories Wedding line.   The second card is a simple little thank you card that features patterned paper from Making Memories Just Chillin 6" x 6" pad.  I cut out an extra butterfly with my craft knife and used a foam adhesive dot to pop it up and add a little dimension to this otherwise flat, simple card.

Mini Album

This is a simple little project that turns out so cute!  I used the large square scallop die from Sizzix to create the pages of this album.  This is a very easy technique; simply line up your blank cards so that only three sides are cut by the die, and the spine of the card is just inside the edge and isn't cut.  Next score a line about ¼ inch in from the folded edge, punch two holes, and attach all the pages together with ribbon.

I made this little album for my daughter to record all her friends' names and phone numbers. Pre-printed labels inside the pages help keep everything tidy.

Mini Envelope Baggie

This is a super easy and cost-saving way to make mini gift bags.  There's no need to toss out those extra envelopes from the Bazzil pack.  You can even recycle unusual envelopes you may receive in the mail!  Just cover up the front and back with patterned papers or embellishments and you'll have a one-of-a-kind gift bag.

Start by sealing your envelope. I prefer to use a nice strong adhesive for this rather than licking the envelope.  This way I know that all the edges are well-adhered.  Cut off one of the shorter edges. This is now the top/open section of your bag.

Score the bottom and sides ½ inch from the edge.

Then simply open up and fold your envelope into a baggie shape.  Fold in the bottom corner pieces and adhere with a nice strong, non-liquid adhesive.

You can now embellish this little gem any way you would like!
