Family Altered Frame

I love decorating - especially with handmade home décor items. I've found that making altered word frames allows me to customize my space easily and inexpensively, with items I already have in my scrapbooking room!

Supplies:

• frame (I gave new life to an old frame with acrylic paint)
• patterned paper: Foof-A-La
• rub-ons: Making Memories
• chipboard letters (I used various leftover letters)
• acrylic paint: Engine Red by Folk Art
• Terrifically Tacky Tape
• glass cleaner
• foam paintbrushes

Instructions:

1. Paint the chipboard letters with acrylic paint using a foam paintbrush. Allow to dry.
2. Take the glass out of the frame (and paint the frame if desired). Be careful - glass edges may be sharp and could cause cuts. Use gloves if necessary. Clean glass and allow it to dry completely.
3. Cut patterned paper to fit the frame, using the glass as a template.
4. Apply rub-ons to the front of the glass. Tip - have an assistant hold the glass steady as you carefully apply rub-ons to insure a strong bond and to keep the glass from moving.
5. Assemble the frame with patterned paper behind the glass.
6. Using Terrifically Tacky Tape, adhere the letters to the  front of the glass.

I used these steps to create a "Joy" frame for the holidays. Mix and match your scrapbooking supplies to match any season or décor!
