Step-by-Step: Puppy Kisses
When I am creating layouts, I first choose the photo, and then create the layout to complement the photo's colors. This particular photo has nice pinks and browns, so I decided the American Crafts Merlot paper would suit it well! I usually never have a set "plan" when creating a layout - I just add as I go! Here is how I did it. Supplies: Instructions: - I trimmed the Merlot paper to fit just inside the black cardstock, giving the illusion of a frame. (Note: If you like the effect of inking, you can do as I have and ink the edges of just about everything on the layout!)
- Next, I used the scrap of the Merlot paper (the backside) to create the pink strip on the bottom. I cut the right side of the strip to look like ribbon.
- Then, I created a white mat for the photograph using the white cardstock. I don't use exact measurements, but I "eyeballed" the mat to be the same width as the black cardstock border. I then tucked the white mat just under the pink strip, and attached the photo to the top of the white mat. Notice how I set the photo on top of the strip and the photo mat underneath the strip.
- Next, I used decorative scissors to cut a strip of white cardstock to fit just under the pink strip. Again, I did not measure lengthwise, but I cut it to match the length of the white mat.
- Then, I selected two hearts from the Newhouse Chipboard set, and used Making Memories brads on the corners to make them a little more special and cute. I attached them with Zots adhesive for easy layering.
- I used Zig pens to create the journaling lines and to write the journaling. Just use a ruler to ensure you are drawing straight journaling lines!
- Finally, I added the Thickers for the title. I used two different fonts: Daiquiri and Latte. To make the styles match better, I cut the edges off the ‘P''s in puppy, and the side of the ‘K' in kisses.
- You're done! How easy was that?
