Step-by-Step: The Pier
We spend our summer vacation at the same location every year. So, naturally we have developed favorite spots we visit every summer. One of these places is a restaurant called The Pelican. It is right on a pier at the beach and they make incredible smoothies. The fun decor makes for memorable photos. This layout celebrates our love of smoothies, The Pelican Restaurant and Miami Beach. Let me show you how I did it. Supplies: Instructions: - I love using white cardstock as my background for summer photos so it's no surprise that is where I started.
- To create the fun tropical background, I used several papers from the Making Memories Funky Vintage Collection.
- I trimmed the Floral Vine paper to 8" x 10" and then I used my Creative Memories wavy cutting tool and cut a wavy pattern about 1" from the top.
- I adhered this approximately ½" from the edges and centered on the white cardstock.
- Next, I trimmed a piece of Geometric Flowers paper to 6" x 8 ½". This served as the mat for my photos. I placed it approximately 3" from the top of the white cardstock.
- I cut a 1" x 8" piece of Scallop Stripe paper and placed it directly underneath the Floral Vine paper. I used a ¼" piece of the reverse side (yellow) to cover the seam where the two patterned papers meet.
- I placed two photos closer to the left side of the paper leaving me room for my journaling. I embellished the spot between the photos with white Heidi Swapp floral and a clear button backed with the orange side of a piece of Chandelier patterned paper.
- I adhered several label stickers under and above the photo. The ones on the top served as a base for my title which was a mix of rub-ons ("the") and flocked letter stickers ("pier").
- To finish off the title blocks, I trimmed out a flower from a flocked label sticker and placed it on the right side.
- I finished this layout by adding a photo corner to my right photo and journaling in the extra space to the right of that photo.
